Bur Dubai: A Guide to Location, Living and Unique Spots to Visit

If you are in Dubai for a fulfilling tour, you can’t miss Bur Dubai. It has many top attractions that complete your Dubai tour. This district is both a residential area and a tourist destination. It is mostly home to various Hindu families in Dubai who reside here because of a temple nearby.

Where is Bur Dubai and How to Reach here? 

This district is located west of Dubai Creek, which is 9 minutes away by Taxi. It also separates it from Deira. Moreover, Jumeirah is in the North and is a 15-minute drive away from this place. 

The place is convenient to reach. You can take the metro from various stations in the city to come here. If you are in Al Ghubaiba, you can take a ferry to come and go back from the marine transport station. Like all Dubai, this place is connected via Sheikh Zayed Road, so it’s convenient to reach by taxi or private car, too. 

Places to Visit:

There are a lot of places here that make up a huge part of your Dubai tour. Let’s explore them all one by one.

Dubai Frame 

It’s in Zabeel Park and a very exciting place to visit. By taxi, it is 11 minutes away . The structure looks like a photo frame and it’s like seeing the city through a time frame. From one side you see the new, modern Dubai City with all its might and from the other, you see an old, charming traditional city that has been there forever. This transition of views reminds you how this place has developed exponentially. 

There is a ticket to this frame and if you are afraid of heights, maybe this is not for you. Well, witnessing Dubai through a glass window from the horizon is not for everyone anyway. 

One ticket to the deck is approx 50 AED. The place is not pet-friendly and you can’t bring food or water inside the structure. If you are visiting it, we assure you the price and your time will be worth the view. 

Dubai Dolphinarium

This is a very famous attraction and both adults and kids like it here. You can come here through Creek Park Gate 1. Tickets cost up to 90 AED and for kids, it’s 35 AED at discounted rates. With the tickets you get to see the show, they give you one complimentary drink and a printed photo or digital video. They also provide wetsuits which you can change in their facility. All the tickets must be used on the same day or they will expire. 

In the Dolphinarium you can see many live shows of fishes, seals and birds. Some famous shows are

  • A 45-minute Dolphin and seal show where dolphins and sea lions perform. 
  • Exotic Bird shows where birds display acts in such an intelligent way that it will surprise you.
  • Dolphin and birds encounter where you are allowed to touch and feed them. 
  • Swim with Dolphins and play and dance with them too. 

You can also click photos with dolphins. Moreover, the place allows you to arrange a birthday party and they offer many birthday packages too. People who have visited here have loved the place. This place closes at 7 pm.

Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood

This traditional place allows you to time travel and witness the old Arabian Charm. The place has a museum, art gallery, souk and traditional food. Built in the 1980s, this place is now a cultural hub of Dubai. 

60 housing units were built in the mid-nineteenth century and are now preserved in the best condition. The neighborhood is free to explore but you may have to buy a ticket to visit museums and art galleries. 

The grand mosque located near the museum is worth your visit. They also call it Bur Dubai masjid. Built in the 1900s, with beautiful architecture and a spacious layout, this mosque is a must-visit. Entry to this mosque is free but you can hire a tour guide for 25 AED for a better understanding of your experience here.

Dubai Garden Glow

Dubai is beautiful during the day and magical at night. The city twinkles under the sky and takes you to fairyland. Dubai Garden Glow is one such magical place. You can come here through Zabeel Park gate no. 6 and 7. The nearest metro station is Max and the nearest bus station is Al Jafiliya. 

It is a theme park with 4 different themes. Each one has wonderful light displays and artwork.

Here you can visit

  • Glow Park has more than 10 million LED lights on different artworks. The beauty simply holds You captivated while witnessing this artwork.
  • Art park which sparks your imagination. Most artwork here is made by using recycled material which is a unique twist to the place. 
  • Glow safari which is a magical glowing jungle of animals. 
  • Dinosaur parks where dinos move and roar, taking you back centuries to their time. There is a dinosaur museum which showcases dinosaurs’ journey from egg to death. The walking dinos give you a chilling sensation in your spine.  The experience is worth it. 
  • Magic park where you can see an upside down room and a kaleidoscope which gives changing and mesmerizing patterns making your photos beautiful and unique. 
  • Fantasy Park, combines creatures with beautiful floral patterns.

This place opens at 5 pm and stays open till 11 pm. On public holidays the closing time is noon. You can buy tickets directly from the website. One ticket for adults costs AED 80 and is applicable for the glow garden, dinosaur park and art park. For the magic Show you have to buy another ticket for 45 AED. Outside drinks and food are not allowed and to film the place professionally for commercial reasons, one has to take permission from the authorities first.

Textile Souk

Opposite to Al Fahidi is a fabric market known as a textile souk. This place is a sheer heaven for ladies. Here you will find traditional goods and fabrics at a very reasonable rate. The rate also depends on your bargaining and negotiation skills. With a clever shopping spree, you can collect some gems of fabric at very affordable rates.
