Safa Park is a verdant treasure which is known as a popular leisure time destinations for both residents and tourists alike. I am spilling over with excitement to be the one to tell you about the stupendous park. It is located in Jumeirah area, and in one of the earliest developed areas of Dubai. That is to say, this is a prime spot for some residents to go on a walk without disturbing anybody else. So, there is space for everyone to move around and enjoy this little piece of green haven in the city.
What is Safa Park?
This Park is one of Dubai’s large public parks. It’s a place of impeccable beauty, a place where people can feel that they have disconnected from the city, whereas all around there is only nature. The park is covered with trees, grass and flowers. It resembles a big verdant island in the middle of the tall towers and bustling streets.
History
Indeed, is among the oldest parks in Dubai. The park saw the light of day in 1975, which shows that it has lived for nearly 50 years. On the contrary, when the park first opened, Dubai was not that big as what it is today. Safa was the first town with such a large green field.
As Dubai has been growing rapidly over recent times, the city has many new buildings and roads. However, in the middle of all these, Safa area still remains as a green space for people to have a nice time in nature. It has changed, at some point too, though it is still a place where people can relax and have nearly to turmoil with.
How big is Safa Park?
Safa is the largest park in Dubai. It spreads over 64 hectares of land. To help you get a sense of how massive this is, imagine putting 64 soccer fields together in one area. The park being this large is the reason that it is able to include multiple different things inside the park:
- Large grassy expanses where people can play games and rest.
- There is a big lake where people can paddle a boat.
- Paths for walking and running
- A playground for children
- the places where you can sit and have a picnic
- Sports fields
What can you do in Park?
There are so many things to do in Safa that I doubt we can do them all. Below are my favorite things to do:
1. Walking and Running
There are long paths in the park for walking and running. Most of the time people come here to run or walk. The trails wrap around the lake and go through the grassy areas. It is a nice way of appreciating nature and staying fit if you do exercise there.
2. Picnics
Safa is a great location for picnics too. You can take food and sit down on the grass. If you wish to have a place for meals, we have tables and chairs as well. It is more fun to be outside with your family than being indoors.
3. Boating
This park has a big lake where people can go boating. You can rent the rowboats to paddle around. It is a great way to feel the water and the park from a different viewpoint.
4. Sports
If you are a sports fan, Safa has got you covered. Areas are there for the volleyball, the football game, and the basketball game. Just bring your own ball and play with your friends.
5. Children’s Play Areas
For families with children, there are playgrounds with swings, slides, and climbing frames. Children can have fun and make new friends at such a place.
6. Relaxing
At times, all you want to do is take a break, you can come here and look for a leafy spot under a tree to read a book or watch people leisurely pass by. The park is a calm place in the midst of the city.
How do I enter?
It can never be simpler than allowing oneself to get inside Safa area. The park is nurtured and given the best treatments so that people enjoy the park. Here are the step by step directions you can enter:
- Decide on the entry point you want to use. The front gate is usually the busiest one.
- Dash on to the gate. If entrance fee is necessary, a little desk is seen around which you can pay.
- Just part with the entry fee (we’ll get back to this soon).
- The personnel will hand you a ticker. Always, carry it while you are on the island.
- Get through the gate and have a good time in the park.
How much is the entry fee?
For security purposes, a small entrance fee is essential. This cash is spent by the park to ensure cleanliness and the neatness of the park. Here are some important notes about the entry fee:
- For adults and children over 3 years old, the fee is 3 AED (United Arab Emirates Dirhams).
- Children under 3 years old can enter for free.
Just give the money once, even if you leave and then return back on the same day. Only, you have to keep yourself safe by holding on to the receipt. The fees are exceptionally low and the park is a perfect setting for a full day of fun without breaking the bank.
What are the opening hours?
Safa is open all through the week. The hours of operation for the park are:
- Sunday to Wednesday: 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM
- Park stays open until 11:00 PM on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays
The park stays open for late hours during the week ends, with lots of people attending then. The park is a hit with families and those just visiting during the afternoons.
What facilities are available?
This Park has everything you need during your visit. Here are a few examples:
- Bathrooms: The safest and cleanest bathroom is free of charge throughout the park.
- Prayer rooms: For those who frequently (and who needs it) pray.
- Food kiosks: Snacks and beverages are available for sale in the park, as well.
- Use of barbecues: There is a special place for people who are interested in having a barbecue.
- Parking: There’s a big car park for the visitors to park their cars.

Why is Safa Park important?
Safa not only offers people a good place to relax and have a good time, but it is also important for the community in many ways. It brings about the natural environment concept in the middle of the city which helps in the sustainability of the atmosphere.
It is a social meeting place that permits people which would otherwise hardly meet to discuss personal matters. People exercising at the park help in preventing various diseases and keeping good health in the body. It has been long been in Dubai and it is a clear indication of how the place has been changing over the years.
Conclusion
Safa Park has earned itself a good value as one of those few places one can get away from the city hustle and bustle. The beauty of the setting, the health facility, and the serenity that comes from being able to exercise and share with friends and family makes Safa the ultimate getaway for all. Having the facilities, for the most part, be some of the outstanding ones that make you want to return again and again. Hope you will have a wonderful time at Safa Area very soon.
